Arrow Senior Living Celebrating National Nurses Week

Category: Health & Wellness

Author: Justin Ladd

National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. These permanent dates enhance planning and position National Nurses Week as an established recognition event. As of 1998, May 8 was designated as National Student Nurses Day, to be celebrated annually. And as of 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week (May 6-12) each year. The nursing profession has been supported and promoted by the American Nurses Association (ANA) since 1896.

I love SO many things about our regional wellness team! One of the Arrow Senior Living’s core values that means the most to me is, “I believe acts of kindness can drive change in the world.” Our regional wellness team demonstrates this core value in such a profound way. Tirelessly, day after day, they show kindness in such practical, meaningful, and vital ways – not only to our residents, but to staff and other teams as well. They are always ready to help, to patiently share their wealth of knowledge, to team up, and solve problems. They remind me of something my mom used to say, “love with your boots on.” I so deeply appreciate how they courageously “love with their boots on” in so many ways.

I think residents would say how deeply appreciative they are for the care and kindness they receive on a daily basis from our directors, and I believe they would say how much it means to be able to have so much trust in the wellness team.

The wellness team stepped up to support the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in SO many ways! I have watched over and over, so many wellness teams working the floor day and night, giving when they are exhausted, bringing smiles, and light during such a challenging time. They are true heroes!

I would like to give an extra shoutout to Brooke Glenn. She has such a tremendous amount of knowledge, and she shares it in such a way that the learner keeps wanting to come back for more! She is wonderful to work with, always ready to collaborate, she is kind, and gracious. I recently asked someone who had joined her team how they were doing, and the response – “I have the best boss in the world. It makes me love what I do!”

In recognition of National Nurses Week, the regional memory care team is going to send notes of appreciation and gifts if we can!
